A man in his 60s has been hospitalised following an alleged assault in Enniskillen last night (Thursday).
The incident took place in the Ann Street area of the town.
Police are appealing for information and witnesses, it is believed that the incident took place shortly after 7pm.
Speaking on behalf of the PSNI, Inspector Hicks said: “Police attended Ann Street following a report of an assault. The victim had been travelling on the Lough Shore Road towards Enniskillen and observed a red coloured vehicle in his mirror travelling behind him at a close distance.
“The vehicle then overtook him before overtaking another car. At traffic lights on Ann Street the victim exited his car to speak to the suspect. The suspect then began hitting the victim before leaving the scene.
“The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries in which he has suffered a suspected broken nose and injury to his eye."
An arrest was made, Inspector Hicks said: "A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and grievous bodily harm. He was been released on bail pending further enquiries.
“Our investigation is continuing and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or who may have dash cam footage to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1491 03/02/22.”
A spokeperson from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) confirmed the man was taken to South West Acute Hospital (SWAH).
The spokesperson said: " NIAS received a 999 call at 7.10pm on Thursday, February 3 following reports of an incident in Ann Street, Enniskillen.
"NIAS despatched one Emergency crew and one Rapid Response Paramedic to the incident.
"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to South West Acute Hospital by ambulance."
