Mr. William Norman Dundas

There has been deep sadness following the death of Norman Dundas, of Cleens Old, Springfield, who passed away peacefully at his home on January 16.

Norman was the beloved husband of Nancy and much loved father of Paul (Maithrie), Belfast; Helen (Andrew), South Yorkshire; and Ian (Annabel), Springfield.

He was a devoted grandfather to Hannah and Jack, always taking a great interest in their lives.

Norman was born on November 26, 1931 to William and Rebecca Dundas of Brackagh, Springfield. He was the second of three children, along with his brother, Jim, who died in 1960, and his sister, Estelle, who lives in West Yorkshire.

Norman attended primary school at Moyglass, Springfield and The Model School, Enniskillen before moving on to Portora Royal School.

After leaving school, Norman worked at TP Toppings, Ulster Swift (Uni Pork) and then for the Civil Service, first in Belfast and then Enniskillen.

He enjoyed his work in the civil service, doing home visits to help people with social security claims. He also found enjoyment in farming and looked forward to retiring and working on the family farm full-time.

Norman was saved in 1947 during a mission in the Presbyterian Church, Enniskillen, conducted by W. P. Nicholson. When God saved him, it made a change in his life. No matter what else would take place, this was the most important day of his life.

Norman was the Sunday School Superintendent and a Lay preacher at Springfield Methodist, and his involvement in God’s work continued at the Enniskillen Independent Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday Teacher, Lay preacher, Class leader and a long-time Board member.

For many years he was an active member of The Faith Mission Prayer Union, along with his wife, Nancy, whom he met while she was working with the Faith Mission in Fermanagh.

They were married on September 4, 1963 in her home city of Sheffield.

Norman had been in relative good health until very recently and could often be seen out walking his dogs. He greatly enjoyed the celebration of his 90th birthday last November with his family.

His funeral service on January 18, conducted by Rev. Samuel Aiken, was held in Enniskillen Independent Methodist Church.

Funeral arrangements were carried out with exceptional attention to detail by Keith Elliott, W.T. Morrison Funeral Directors.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
