A 17-YEAR-OLD Enniskillen schoolgirl’s winning way with words has secured her a place in the final of a major public speaking competition for girls.
Deborah McQuaid, a Sixth Year student at the Convent Grammar School, will take part in the final adjudication of Soroptimist International of Northern Ireland’s Public Speaking Competition.
Deborah, who came first in the Fermanagh heat, is studying A-Levels in English Lit, Geography and Chemistry, and impressed the judges with her subject: “Is Food Aid A Good Aid?”
She said that she was “very pleased” at her success and pointed out that she would give her best in the final.
As well as speaking on her chosen subject, she will also talk on a topic that is not prepared.
