A Fermanagh family who took part in last year’s Belfast City Marathon raised an incredible £7,020 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The McCaffrey family, from Enniskillen, took part in a relay of the marathon for their fundraising effort to support a charity that has given them first-hand support in recent years.
Running and walking to complete the route, Pat, Collette, Mark, Rachel and Laura ran and walked the 26.2 miles around Belfast last October.
Speaking about getting involved with Macmillan, Mark said: “Our family have been very lucky to benefit from Macmillan’s support and we all wanted to get involved and give something back to the charity.
“Our grandfather, Gerard McGurk, was in the Macmillan Unit at Antrim Hospital in early 2017 and received outstanding care, which our family always greatly appreciated – we will never forget the brilliant support we were so lucky to receive.”
Mark and the family were surprised by the generosity of those who donated, adding: “We have been blown away by the generosity of our friends, family and colleagues, and are delighted to have raised such a huge amount which we know will be used locally by Macmillan.”
