Scotts Irish Whisky may only have launched last November but it is already making a splash in the drinks world and is a success story that both Ireland and London can be proud if.

Conal Treacy, owner of Scotts Irish and a native of Garrison, Co Fermanagh, now lives in London with his family and is excited about a special event he has planned for St Patrick’s Day in Soho.

“We are holding a free whisky tasting event in Soho, at the French House. With our whisky distilled in Ireland St Patrick’s Day is an important date on the calendar and we know people are going to love the taste of our whisky.”

Taking place between noon and 8pm on March 17 in the French House in Soho hourly tastings must be booked in advance and can be done so by visiting www.scottsirishwhisky.com/stpatricksday

Free whisky on St Patrick’s Day. What could be better?

It has been quite the whirlwind journey for Mr. Treacy and the Scotts Irish team since the launch of the Whisky in November. At an event held in aid of the London Irish Centre the first bottle was auctioned for a European record £11,000 and recently his whisky took pride of place at an event held in the Irish embassy in London in honour of Troy Gallagher, Lord Mayor of Islington, who is a native son of County Donegal.

Mr. Treacy was delighted to be part of this event as Mayor Gallagher marked the end of his first term:

“The London Irish community is both vibrant and entrepreneurial and we are very pleased to take our place at this event held for Mayor Gallagher.”

Mr. Treacy was also appreciative of the support shown by Ambassador of Ireland, Mr Adrian ONeill and Mrs Aisling O’Neill as Scotts Irish was poured and enjoyed by the assembled guests.

Among those guests were the Mayors of all the London Boroughs with one in particular, Trish Fivey, Mayor of Sutton, born and bred in Enniskillen, just 25 miles from the Scotts Irish Distillery.

“It is a small world indeed!” commented Mr. Treacy. “The Irish get all over the world and we have found the London Irish community so supportive of everything we have been doing with Scotts Irish.”

Treacy’s whisky distillery is based in his home of Garrison Co Fermanagh but he has ambitions of making it a worldwide brand, and has made an excellent start on that journey.

“We held our launch here in London with an auction in aid of the London Irish Centre with our first bottle going for £11,000, a European record for an Irish whisky. We have had brilliant support not only from our local community in Ireland but also here in London and we have even had bottles shipped to Australia and America.”

With plans for a restaurant and distillery tour as well as a tourist attraction at the Garrison HQ Scotts Irish have invested in their local community while taking a product to be proud of to the rest of the world.
