THE former director of Ireland’s only mobile cinema said that they would not be put off from returning to Fermanagh, despite thieves breaking into their lorry at Lisnaskea last week.
The ‘Cinemobile’, which has been touring around Ireland since its official launch in April of last year, was on a rare trip into the North and had visited Kesh earlier in the week.
It was parked at Swift’s SuperValu shop in Lisnaskea on Thursday night.
On Friday morning, staff of the cinema discovered that the cab had been broken into during the night and a sum of money was missing.
Ms. Celine Curtain, a former director of the Cinemobile, and now acting as a consultant for the initiative, said that it was “disheartening” to discover that some people would seek to damage what is essentially a non-profit-making project for rural communities to enjoy.
“The spirit of the thing is about coming in and being a part of a community on a regular basis, becoming involved in the social activity of that community. So this is a bit of a knockback, but that being said, we have had a great time here and we’ll come back.”
Damage to the cab was also caused during the break-in, but Ms. Curtain was adamant that they would return to Fermanagh in the future, and added that they didn’t regard their misfortune in Lisnaskea as a reflection on the town or the community.
