There are plenty of fantastic music and comedy events coming up at the Ardhowen Theatre over the coming weeks.
International recording artists Foster and Allen are celebrating their 45th anniversary in the music business with their ‘We’ll Meet Again’ tour.
The duo have kept themselves busy in the studio working on a brand-new 20-track album, ‘We’ll Meet Again’, which features their version of the Vera Lynn classic song as well as many other new recordings and also some original songs.
At their Ardhowen concert on Friday, March 18 at 8pm, Mick and Tony will of course be performing all their hits such as ‘Bunch Of Thyme’, ‘Old Flames’, ‘Maggie’, ‘After All These Years’, ‘We Owe It All to You’, and ‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’, as well as some of their new recordings.
Moving on, and all are invited to join the marvellous Mrs. Jones (Rozlyn Sheridan) in what is described as an uninhibited, unruly and outrageous story of her colourful life.
Jones’s fans have laughed at her in the like of the smash-hit comedy shows, ‘It’s Wine O’Clock’, ‘Nobody Puts Bernie in a Corner’, and “Jaysus, Nuala and Noleen and the Wee Donkey”, and now she’s back with her own laugh-out-loud, feel-good, one-woman.
The character will be embracing everything from motherhood, men and menopausal pitfalls to weight gain, wedding night jitters and the joy of friendship.
If you fancy a sing-along or a spot of Bonanza Bingo, then come along to ‘Mrs Jones’ Diary’ on Saturday, March 19 at 8pm, and enjoy a night of high-energy, hilariously funny comedy, directed by Dan Gordan and starring Rozlyn Sheridan.
Staying in a comic vein, and although Covid rudely interrupted Jake O’Kane’s unbroken run of sold-out tours, he’s back with his new show, ‘Maskerade – The Mask Comes Off!’ on Sunday, March 20 at 8pm.
As always, Jake will deal with arguably the really important questions of the day, such as ... Are Catholics more prone to catching Covid-19 than Protestants? Is a Union Jack or Tricolour face mask better at protecting you from Covid? Could he charge more for his tour?
Back with Jake will be the ever-funny Terry McHugh, who’ll be sharing his horror at being marooned in Tyrone during the lockdown ...
This show contains adult references, strong language and political subject matter, and is suitable for those aged 16 and over.
For more Northern-flavoured laughs, the ‘Give My Head Peace’ gang roll into town on Wednesday, March 23 and Thursday, March 24 at 8pm, and their many fans will need no introduction to the distinctive troupe of talented comedians.
The Ardhowen’s very own Saturday Youth Theatre, with Exit Does Theatre begins on Saturday, March 19 with sessions at 10am for 4- to 6-year-olds, 11am for 7- to 9-year-olds, and 12.15pm for 10- to 12-year-olds.
To celebrate National Science and Engineering week, there is a fun marbling workshop with Julie where kids can make their very own space-themed collage. This workshop takes place on Saturday, March 19 at 2.30pm and is suitable for kids aged 8 to 12 years.
For adults, Valerie Whitworth returns to the Ardhowen for another eight-week a Capella workshop for adults starting on April 7 at 7pm.
