A defibrillator dedicated in memory of the late Neil Graham has recently been installed at his former primary school.
The defibrillator was obtained by Belleek Primary School in 2019, and a special assembly was held on June 10, 2019 where the device was dedicated in memory of Neil, who tragically passed away in May, 2018.
The assembly was attended by members of Neil’s family and the dedication was performed by the then minister of Garrison Parish Church, Reverend Canon Ngozi.
The defibrillator was sourced by Shaun Crinion and was purchased by the school with the help of grants provided by Enniskillen Yacht Club and Fermanagh Trust.
Earlier this month, after a delay due to the coronavirus pandemic, the defibrillator was finally installed on the fence by the entry to Belleek PS.
Speaking to The Impartial Reporter, the school’s Principal, Nicola Young, said: “It’s been long awaited [but the defibrillator has been] installed outside the school gates, so it is open to all in the community.”
She explained that former Principal Esdille Lappin had been a driving force in getting the defibrillator, initially. “Esdille, she decided to keep it in Neil’s memory, as he was a former pupil of the school.
“Eventually the school would like to get a plaque [added in Neil’s memory],” she added.
The device at Belleek PS has now been added to the list of defibrillators in the Belleek area. “It’s fully accessible to the wider community, as well as the school,” added Nicola.
