A team of hair stylists have been blown away by the support for their unique fundraiser which has raised around £8,000 for an important Northern Ireland cancer charity that is close to their hearts.
On Sunday, March 13, Imelda Maguire – the owner of Hair by Imelda in Kinawley – hosted a Blow Dry Marathon fundraiser at her salon in aid of the North West Cancer Centre.
Talking to The Impartial Reporter, Imelda described how she and a team of stylists blow-dried the hair of approximately 80 women from 10am to 5pm on the day.
"It went amazingly – it was a really good day! Everybody was just in good form and really enjoyed it," said Imelda, noting that the feedback from women getting their hair done was really positive.
"We haven't got the final figure [but so far we've raised] about £8,000, so we're delighted. We just had so much support, it was brilliant," added Imelda, noting that they had people come along to support the fundraiser who she had never met before.
"There were also people there who are currently going through [cancer] treatment or had been, and they wanted to come and support it because the nurses at the North West Cancer Centre were amazing to them.
"It's just such a good service to have because they go above and beyond."
Imelda was also grateful for the support from other local businesses who donated items as prizes for a raffle that took place on the day.
"We just had great support and it was a brilliant day," she told this newspaper.
