ENNISKILLEN butcher Pat O’Doherty is Britain’s ‘King’. He was ‘crowned’ at the Meatex and Foodex 1992 show in the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, after winning a competition which attracted hundreds of entries from all over the country.
Pat’s ‘Belmore Burger’ was voted the best in Britain, having already held the Northern Ireland title for the past three years, and the Irish title for the past two years.
News of his success has even drifted across the Atlantic to the home of the burger, the United States, from where he receives requests for help and advice.
Pat would say the most important ingredient in his ‘secret’ recipe is prime Fermanagh hormone-free beef. Using it in a formula developed at his family’s butcher shop in Belmore Street three years ago, he has won prize after prize.
