The home of former billionaire Sean Quinn, once Ireland's richest man, was searched by gardaí today, Wednesday April 20.
The Impartial Reporter contacted An Garda Síochána about the ongoing situation, with the Republic's police force subsequently releasing a short statement through a spokesperson.
The statement read: "Gardaí based in the Cavan/Monaghan Garda Division carrying out an ongoing criminal investigation into alleged criminal activity in Cavan and the wider Border region have today executed a search warrant issued by a District Court judge under the Section 10 of the Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1997, at a domestic residence in County Cavan.
The search took place this morning and concluded at around 2pm.
No arrests were made and as this is an ongoing criminal investigation, An Garda Síochána would not make any further comment.
