Local woman Frances McGloin was recently a guest at the annual St Patrick’s Day Reception at Áras an Uachtaráin.
Frances, from Roscor was one of a number of nurses and midwives hosted by Irish President Michael D. Higgins and his wife, Sabina Higgins.
Detailing the event, a spokesperson for Áras an Uachtaráin said: "In honour of the fact that 2020 had been designated as the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, President and Sabina Higgins had planned to host nurses and midwives for the annual St Patrick’s Day Reception at Áras an Uachtaráin in March 2020."
He continued: "Unfortunately, this was the first reception which had to be cancelled due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. In recognition of the fact that this had happened, and in particular recognition of the work done by nurses and midwives throughout the pandemic, the President and Sabina invited nurses and midwives to the Áras for the 2022 St Patrick’s Day reception, which was the first reception to take place following the end of restrictions."
