AN unofficial dumping site on the outskirts of Kesh is causing concern for local residents.
Dead sheep, silage and even car wrecks have been dumped on the side of the Crevenish Road, approximately a mile outside the village.
One local man has made complaints to both Fermanagh Council and the Department of Environment, Roads Service, but nothing has been done.
However, this week an official from Fermanagh Council visited the dump and said he hoped the site would be cleared within the next two weeks.
The 100-yard stretch is littered with both domestic and farmyard waste. It was originally used as a landfill site, but as it became level with the road, people began dumping their rubbish.
Part of the area belongs to the Department of Environment, the rest to a local farmer.

At one stage, the Council was considering turning the site into an official dump, but plans were scrapped after local residents objected.
“Nobody has done anything to prevent this from happening,” said the resident, “the place is infested with rats and the effluent which is coming from the dumped silage is running into the stream which flows into Lough Erne”.
The landfill site has been there for a considerable time; however, the domestic dumping has only started to become a problem within the past three months.
