THIS fishing bait, with its formidable treble hooks, is designed to catch large predators such as pike but Doreen Morrison (pictured) found it stuck in the foot of a swan on the River Erne in Enniskillen.
Doreen and her husband, Jim, mounted an operation to rescue the injured swan and remove the bait after noticing the bird in difficulty during one of their regular walks beside the Erne at Riverside.
“We usually feed the swans and ducks and keep an eye on them,” she explained.
One day, they noticed one swan swimming with its leg up by its side.
After safely catching the swan, they managed to remove the hook from its foot.
Doreen is appealing for all fishermen to take extra care.
