A broken window and television have resulted in a man being sent to prison for eight months.
Enniskillen Magistrates Court heard on Monday that an incident took place at The Belmore Court Motel, Enniskillen on May 8.
At around 9.50pm on the night in question, staff reported damage to a room at the motel to the police, and when they went to the room they observed two window panes were broken, and a television had been smashed.
The room was being used by a female, who was staying there with her partner.
At 10.20pm, Patrick James John McDonagh (35), of Sallys Wood, Irvinestown, was located at Belmore Street and arrested.
He told police he broke the window with a glass and punched the television in "bad humour".
In his submissions to the court, McDonagh's barrister, Ciaran Roddy, accepted that his client was in difficulty in terms of disposals, and the offence breached several suspended sentences.
He said the best he could say was that McDonagh owned up to the damage almost immediately, where others may have taken a chance, and he should be given maximum credit.
Mr. Roddy said McDonagh had been before the courts many times, and he has issues with alcohol.
He added that previous attempts to deal with these issues have proven unsuccessful.
McDonagh's problems were of his own making, Mr. Roddy said, but he met this incident head-on and saved court time.
He asked the court to consider the moderate damage caused by McDonagh, even if it was wanton damage.
District Judge Steven Keown agreed that it was wanton damage, and breached a suspended sentence for criminal damage.
He activated this suspended sentence of four months of custody, and added another four months for the two charges of criminal damage, giving McDonagh an eight-month prison sentence in total.
