AN ENNISKILLEN schoolteacher was the toast of her pupils and the rest of her primary school this week after being selected as the Fermanagh Rose to represent the county at the Ulster Rose of Tralee finals in Monaghan next month.
Aileen Peake, 24, was chosen from a number of finalists in the local heat at Mirage Nite Club in Enniskillen on Friday evening.
And her P3 class at Mullanaskea Primary School at Garvary appeared to be her biggest fans on Monday after hearing the good news.
In fact, the popular teacher said that they were “on a high” on Monday and felt that they should not have to have any lessons that day to celebrate!

Aileen, a dancer with the Peake School of Dancing in Enniskillen, run by her mother Rosaleen, gave a rendition of ‘My Cavan Girl’ during the final.
She said that she had never taken part in anything like the contest before, and was surprised at her success.
She was presented with a tiara and a sash after being crowned the Fermanagh Rose during the night, which she said she had enjoyed.
Another surprise awaited Aileen when she returned to her teaching duties as ‘artists’ had decorated the outer wall of her classroom on a witty Fermanagh Rose theme, with a large colourful banner at the door, indicating ‘The Fermanagh Rose viewing times’ and the ‘entrance fee’!
