There was a real sense of community as Fermanagh residents came together to celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee at various events held across the county.
Festivities kicked off on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 1 with the official launch of the 'Our Coronation Story' exhibition at the Enniskillen Castle Museum. The launch event was compered by Gary Wilson, with speeches by outgoing Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson, Lord Lieutenant of County Tyrone Robert Scott, Lord Lieutenant of County Fermanagh Viscount Brookeborough, Alison Fraser, Senior Head of Funding, The National Lottery Community Fund and Selwyn Johnston, who was a major force in the organisation of many of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Enniskillen including the exhibition. The Royal Dragoon Guards Band of the Irish Regiment entertained those in attendance with a number of tunes.

Throughout the district the celebrations continued over the bank holiday weekend with tea parties and family fun days hosted in many towns and villages including Ballinamallard, Lack, Maguiresbridge, Kesh, Brookeborough, Fivemiletown and Enniskillen.
In Ballinamallard, hundreds of people attended a special open air service of thanksgiving held at Severfield car park on the morning of Sunday, June 5. During the service, a children's Jubilee choir organised and directed by Lynsey McCrea sang a selection of songs. The service was followed by a barbecue where members of the local community came together to enjoy food and a range of fun activities.
