A man who has been charged with six counts of assault on police did not appear at his court hearing as police deemed he was “too violent” to leave the prison cell.

At a sitting of Omagh Magistrates Court on Tuesday, the man and woman who were arrested in relation an incident in the Derrin Park area of Enniskillen on Monday, June 20 were due to appear via video link.

However, Jordan Beckett (20), with an address of Coolcullen Meadow, Enniskillen did not appear.

Alongside the six counts of assault on police, Beckett is charged with burglary, four counts of common assault, disorderly behaviour, resisting police, two counts of assault occasioning actually bodily harm, aggravated burglary, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, namely a kitchen knife, possession of an offensive weapon with intent, theft and criminal damage.

His co-accused, Sasha Harkin (22), with an address of Castletown Square, Fintona, did appear via video link.

The court heard that a Crown Court warrant had also been issued for Harkin, who was due to appear for trial in the Crown Court on Monday but did not appear.

Harkin is charged with burglary in which she allegedly stole Nike Airmax trainers and North Face sliders.

She also faces three counts of common assault, and one of criminal damage and possession of a Class-C drug, namely Diazepam.

A police officer connected Harkin to the charges before the court.

No bail application was made for either of the defendants and they were remanded in custody to appear at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on July 18.
