An information day will be held in Enniskillen this week for a scheme which aims to broaden access to the creative industries in Northern Ireland.
The Creative Industries New Entrants programme (CINE) is a new initiative which aims to broaden access to the screen and creative industries at entry level. The event will take place on Thursday June 30 at the South West College, Enniskillen at 10am.
In what promises to be an interesting event, Enniskillen born award-winning producer Brian J. Falconer will attend and will serve as great inspriation to the future talent of the creative industries.
Funded by the Department for Communities and working in partnership with BBC Northern Ireland, the scheme will help identify new talent, specifically targeting those with a disability, from a minority community, or socially disadvantaged backgrounds, to expand our growing creative industries sector and create a more diverse generation of ‘New Entrants’ of all ages.
A spokesperson for CINE explained the programme and said: “CINE participants will receive formal training covering necessary skills relevant to the role they are interested in. For example, production techniques, idea generation, technical skills, communication skills and teamwork etc.
“They will then be given the opportunity to put these skills into practice in paid 12-18 month industry placements. Training plans and a mentor will be provided to support the participants during their placements.”
