A Fermanagh man is one of 397 artists who have been invited to join The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated producer Brian J. Falconer is among the invitees.
Brian, who is from Enniskillen, is a producer based in Belfast with his company Out of Orbit, and The Academy references recent work by the invitee which led to their invitation to the academy. Brian is recognised for his work on short films, ‘Saul & I’, and ‘Boogaloo and Graham’
Brian is one of the 71 Academy Award nominees who were invited to join the class of 2022. In a press statement, the Academy said: “Membership selection is based on professional qualifications, with an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion and equity remaining a priority.
"The 2022 class comprises 44 per cent women, 37 per cent belong to underrepresented ethnic or racial communities, and 50 per cent are from 53 countries and territories outside the United States.”
Those nominated will be given the status to participate and vote in upcoming Oscar viewing and voting season.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is a global community of more than 10,000 of the most accomplished artists, filmmakers and executives working in film.
In addition to celebrating and recognising excellence in filmmaking through The Oscars, the Academy supports a wide range of initiatives to promote the art and science of the movies, including public programming, educational outreach and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
