One of the big attractions of Fermanagh County Show is their promotion of food.
Each year the Food Hall brings together businesses showcasing their produce ranging from breads to drinks.
But also inside the marquee is the Demonstration Area, where local chefs and bakers show off their skills and their amazing dishes and products.
The Food Hall is sponsored by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and is a very popular place throughout Tuesday evening and Wednesday.
The following will be taking part.
Marty McAdam – Marty is chef/owner of the popular Street Kitchen and Paget Lane Restaurants in Enniskillen.
He represented County Fermanagh in January in this year’s Northern Ireland heats of the Great British Menu on BBC.
Marty has travelled the world honing his culinary skills, from working for Michelin Star chef Tom Kitchin in Edinburgh to being a private chef on a superyacht around the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.
Glen Wheeler – Multi-award-winner Glen Wheeler and his wife, Zara, opened their own business, 28 Darling Street, in 2018 and moved to their new premises, 28 at The Hollow, in January, 2021.
Having worked as one of Northern Ireland’s top chefs, Glen has travelled all over the world, working in many famous restaurants.
Glen started his own restaurant after working as Head Chef for Neven Maguire at MacNean’s in Blacklion for 14 years.
Glen also represented Co. Fermanagh in the Northern Ireland heats of The Great British Menu in 2019.
Annika Latimer – A multi-award-winning baker and culinary extraordinaire, Annika set up her baking business whilst still at school.
Her business has grown from strength to strength and she has made a name for herself in the industry, releasing her first book in 2018 in line with sponsorship from brands such as Dale Farm and Neill’s flour, to name but a few.
Annika is spending time focusing on her pharmacy career at present, and taking a short break from business, but she is never far away from the kitchen.
Her passion for all things cooking and baking shines through. You’ll be guaranteed to not only savour the taste of Annika’s treats, but to delight in the aesthetics, too.
Jayne Paget – Jayne, who has a degree in Home Economics, established multi-award-winning Erin Grove Preserves in 2001.
Using finest quality local ingredients, her preserves, marmalades, chutneys and accompaniments for cheese are bursting with flavour and colour.
During the pandemic, Jayne and her family set up The Croft Farm Shop at Erin Grove, selling farm-fresh and artisan produce, takeaway coffee and home bakes.
Lydia McKenzie – With a passion for baking, Lydia built her business from home deliveries to setting up her business LYDIA at The Diamond, Enniskillen.
Making bespoke cakes, celebration cakes, and serving home bakes and speciality coffees, Lydia’s business has grown and is one of the popular coffee shop experiences in Enniskillen.
Wherever you are in the showgrounds, make sure you visit the Food Hall and see the range of products, and take the time to attend the cookery demonstrations throughout Tuesday evening and Wednesday.
