Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has opened an online Book of Condolence in memory of the late Lord David Trimble, who died on Monday, July 25.
Paying tribute to the late Lord Trimble, Councillor Barry McElduff, Chair, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, said: “Lord Trimble was an influential and courageous political leader in our recent political history.
“He will be remembered not least for the instrumental role he played in the Good Friday Agreement, and for being the first person to take on the role of First Minister in the Executive, which was subsequently established as Stormont.
“The opening of the Book of Condolence will afford the people of the district the opportunity to convey their condolences to his family.
“In opening the Book of Condolence, I am pleased to be joined by the Council Vice-Chair, Allan Rainey MBE – a member of the Ulster Unionist Party, and a party colleague of Lord Trimble’s.
“On behalf of the Council, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to David’s wife, Daphne; his four children, Richard, Victoria, Nicholas and Sarah; and the wider family circle.”
The digital Book of Condolence is available to sign now at www.fermanaghomagh.com. It will remain open until 5pm on August 12.
