Matt Beaumont, an Alliance Party candidate in Fermanagh and South Tyrone, has announced he has left the party and taken a step back from politics.
In a brief post on his social media on Tuesday, Mr. Beaumont said he was leaving for personal reasons, and wished all his friends in Alliance nothing but the best.
Mr. Beaumont first ran for Alliance in the local council elections in May, 2019, before also putting his name forward to the electorate in the December 2019 General Election.
His final attempt at becoming the first ever Alliance candidate elected in Fermanagh and South Tyrone came in May of this year at the Assembly elections.
Despite not being elected, Mr. Beaumont has managed to increase the vote share for Alliance in Fermanagh and South Tyrone quite substantially.
In May, the Alliance first preference vote almost doubled, compared to 2017.
Many people have sent their best wishes to Mr. Beaumont since his announcement and the help he has given those in the constituency over the years.
