A man who bit an officer's thumb twice during an incident has been given a prison sentence.
It was heard at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday that police were called to an incident at Rossorry Grove, Enniskillen on June 3, just after 11pm.
A report had been made by an employee that Alex Powell (18), with an address of Rossorry Church Road, Enniskillen, was behaving aggressively and had damaged a flowerpot.
Upon officers' arrival, Powell was acting aggressively and not cooperating, while they also observed the broken flowerpot.
Powell was detained for a search and when an officer went to hold his right arm, he pulled it towards his body. He was brought to the ground and arrested.
While being taken to a police vehicle, Powell made his body go limp and had to be dragged, while he shouted at the officers.
After being cautioned, a struggle ensued, and Powell bit the officer's thumb.
While in the police vehicle, Powell kicked out with his feet towards the driver's seat and bit the officer's thumb for a second time.
Michael Fahy, Powell's solicitor, said his client had entered a plea at a very early stage.
He also told the court Powell cannot keep on behaving like this as an adult.
For criminal damage, obstructing powers of a search for drugs, resisting police, and two charges of assault on police, Powell was given a three-month prison sentence and ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the officer.
