A MOTORIST from the county came to the rescue this week of a large bird, which lay stunned on the road between Maguiresbridge and Lisbellaw.
Keith Woods (pictured with his two daughters, Emma and Debra and their cousin, Rodney Breen) was travelling to Cornafanog, when he spotted the crane lying in the middle of the road.
“It was lying there, motionless,” said Keith, who stopped and picked the bird up and put it in his car.
An animal lover, Keith said that he was concerned that the bird might have been run over if he did not lift it off the road.
He said the crane, which he at first thought had a broken leg, started to recover when he brought it home. Keith, who had attempted to give the bird some drinks, said that he would be releasing it again as soon as it recovered.
