A driver stopped by police at a checkpoint in Irvinestown has been convicted of a series of driving offences.
On June 15, at around 8.15pm, police stopped a vehicle and horsebox at Castle Street in the town, Enniskillen Magistrates Court heard on Monday.
The sole occupier of the vehicle was Luke Barton (26), with an address of Salloon Road, Ballinamallard.
He was ordered to produce his driving licence and insurance at a police station of his choice, but checks on June 20 showed he had not done so.
It was also discovered Barton had no valid insurance in place, the court heard.
Barton's solicitor, Gary Black, told the court that his client had been working with horses for the past nine years and had usually got someone to do the driving for him.
But on this occasion he had been let down, and "exercised poor judgement" to drive the vehicle himself.
He said the vehicle was insured but due to Barton's driving licence, he was not insured.
Mr. Black added that Barton now has a full driving licence and has to be careful due to the endorsements that are now on his licence.
District Judge Steven Keown told Barton that he hopes this does not happen again, and said that Barton was walking a tightrope due to the points on his licence.
For being an unaccompanied driver, having no 'L' plates displayed, and having no insurance Barton received six penalty points and £500 in fines.
