A man who shouted verbal abuse at police officers and caused disorderly behaviour in a residential area in Irvinestown has been fined.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of June 8 at Flax Valley, Irvinestown, involved Alexander Pierce Cassells (32), of no fixed abode in Dungannon.
On Monday, Enniskillen Magistrates Court heard details of the incident, the court heard that officers spoke to Cassells and offered to help him.
Cassells told an officer to “go f*** yourself, you baldy b*****d.”
At 3.17am, Cassells was arrested for disorderly behaviour and continued to resist police officers, and shouted “vulgar things” toward them.
The defence barrister for Cassells, Blaine Nugent, said: "Mr. Cassells recognises the officers were trying to assist him. He was frustrated by their presence and it was foolish in the extreme, but this is on the lower end of the spectrum.”
Addressing the court, Deputy District Judge Harry Rea said Cassells was an “agent of his own misfortune” and that the PSNI officers' help was “thrown back in their faces”.
However, he agreed with Mr. Nugent that the offence was on the lower end of the scale. He fined Cassells a total of £415.
