THERE was a fun and jovial atmosphere in Enniskillen last Friday night (August 19) as huge crowds came out to watch the popular charity vintage vehicle parade organised by the Erne Vintage Car Club – the town’s first major such run since before the pandemic.
After heavy rain in the afternoon, the clouds lifted and the sun shone as hundreds of vintage vehicles, including various makes and models of cars and tractors, did a loop of the town, cheered on by spectators of all ages.
Talking about the success of this year’s vintage parade, the Chairman of the Erne Vintage Car Club, Baskin Hassard, said: “We had a great evening.
“We must have had the guts of 100 cars and 70 or 80 tractors and the weather was very kind to us. It was great to get back out again.”
This year’s chosen charity was Fermanagh BrightStarz, a community group which aims to improve the lives of people with a learning/physical disability
The Erne Vintage Car Club wavered entry fees for those participating in the parade, encouraging donations to the charity in lieu. Many spectators also donated via street collectors on the night.
“The charity, Fermanagh BrightStarz, at the moment I think they have [raised] around £6,500 [from the event],” added Baskin.
