Fermanagh Ranger Guides were among the 10,000 Guides and Scouts from around the world who recently attended the Poacher 2022 International Guide and Scout Jamboree.
12 Fermanagh Ranger Guides and their leaders travelled to the jamboree hosted at Lincolnshire Show Grounds.
Guides and Scouts came from as far away as Canada, USA, Holland and Austria as well as units from closer to home, from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England.
A spokesperson of Girlguiding Ulster said: "All units camped for the seven days of the camp on ground that was so hard, specialist steel tent pegs were needed to go into the ground. Units cooked for themselves and were responsible for getting all their equipment to and from the site.
"The Ranger Guides enjoyed all the amazing activities on offer, such as sailing, axe throwing, hovercraft driving and many more activities.
"Day trips were also available to the Guides, who enjoyed trips to Lincoln, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre, and the Museum of Lincolnshire Life."
The spokesperson added: " Perhaps most importantly, they learned to work as a team, improve their cooking skills and learn how to manage camping in the hot, dry conditions this summer presented.
"All the activities on the site were aimed at encouraging new friendships. Our girls made friends in Guiding and Scouting from around the world. All the girls enjoyed new experiences and started on new skills for later life and increased their self confidence.
"The jamboree passed far too quickly and finished with a firework display, concert and lots of sad goodbyes.
"On the way home, the Ranger Guides stopped in Liverpool and enjoyed The Beatles Experience, or sightseeing, before returning home exhilarated by the last few days – a true experience of a lifetime."
Plans are now under way to get some of the older girls away to one of the international jamborees next year.
Girl Guiding Fermanagh units are just about to open for the new school year, with places available in all sections: Rainbows (those aged 4 to 7), Brownies (7 to 10), Guides (10 to 14), Rangers (14 to 25), and Trefoil (18+).
