There was a fun-filled day for all of the family last week when the annual Land Rover Fun Day and family carnival was held at Castle Irvine, Necarne, Irvinestown hosted by Trillick Autoparts Centre.
It was the first time the event had been hosted outside of Trillick Autoparts and Castle Irvine proved the perfect venue as more than 200 land rovers visited the event.
The event organised by Kevin and Gemma Doyle from Trillick Autoparts was a resounding success.
Speaking to The Impartial Reporter, they said: “Land rovers came from every county in Ireland, and some even came from England, from Shropshire.”
The couple revealed that, at the time of speaking to this paper, the event and accompanying raffle had raised £24,150 for the MND Association Northern Ireland – a cause close to their hearts.
Explaining the huge appeal for land rover enthusiasts, Kevin said: “Events can be hard to pull off but we specialise in land rovers, so a lot of the people who came would be people who order parts off us.
“The family carnival had a lot of activity; there were plenty of people there who were there for the carnival and may not have known what a land rover was.”
Part of the day was the chance to take part in a 10-mile run around Lisnarick and Irvinestown as well as bring the land rovers out on the off-road track.
A particular joy for the team was the cross-generational appeal, Gemma added.
“We had one family come with three generations; the grandparents were able to sit and listen to the Country music, mum had a coffee, dad did the off-roading and then the children enjoyed the carnival in the walled garden, which was a safe and closed-off area.”
Kevin and Gemma were particularly thankful for all of the volunteers. Gemma said: “It wouldn’t have been a success without family and friends who volunteered on the day.”
They added: “Everything fell into place – we can’t wait for next year!”
