A man who was holidaying in Fermanagh with his wife has been banned from driving for one year.
It was heard at Enniskillen Magistrates Court how police received a report of concern for safety on Sligo Road, Enniskillen at around 1.20am on August 21, 2022.
Police located the person, Ciaran McConnell (49), of Tromery Drive, Crumlin, Co. Antrim in a Volkswagen Passat with the engine running.
There was a strong smell of alcohol with McConnell failing a preliminary breath test before giving an evidential reading of 46mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
His solicitor, Brendan Blaney, asked the court to give his client maximum credit for a plea at the earliest opportunity and the full admissions he made at the time.
He said it was "completely out of character" and was the result of an "undiagnosed breakdown".
McConnell has subsequently been seen by his GP following the incident.
Mr. Blaney told the court the safety concern was raised by McConnell's wife over a concern of a determined attempt to self-harm.
He added that McConnell apologised for his behaviour and had taken steps to rectify it.
District Judge Steven Keown gave McConnell credit for his plea and co-operation adding that he hoped the defendant was getting the assistance he required.
For driving with excess alcohol in his breath, McConnell was banned for one year and fined £150.
