A man who had 10g of cannabis in his possession has been given a suspended sentence.
Police attended an address in Enniskillen on December 27, 2019, to execute an arrest warrant.
On entry to the property, they detected a strong smell of cannabis.
Gareth Parker (29), with an address of Rosnarick Close, Derrygonnelly, who was in the property was found to have Class B drugs, namely cannabis, and Class C prescription-type medication in his possession.
He was arrested and cautioned and taken to the Omagh Custody suite.
It was estimated that the 10.73g of cannabis found had a street value of £100.
Parker’s solicitor, Michael Fahy, told the court it was almost three years since this incident and Parker’s last offending occurred in October of last year.
However, District Judge Steven Keown pointed out that this incident occurred within eight months of Parker receiving a suspended sentence for possession of drugs.
Mr. Fahy also told the court that Parker had made lifestyle changes which he said if not taken there would have been more entries of relevance in Parker’s criminal record.
He said Parker appreciated he was on the verge of being too old for this type of offence.
For possession of a Class B drug, Parker was given a one-month sentence suspended for one year with Judge Keown telling him that with his record further offending in the next year could lead to prison.
