Lisnaskea Historical Society is set to host its next superb monthly heritage talk, by Seamas McAnnaidh, next Monday, September 26.
Taking place at 8pm in the Studio Room of Castle Park Leisure Centre, Lisnaskea, the meeting’s topic is, 'Local Nationalist women in the aftermath of Civil War 1918-1922'.
In what promises to be a fascinating meeting, Seamas will recount how "this was a period when many people were left bereaved, injured, displaced and impoverished”.
He says: “There are many files relating to these people in the Bureau of Military History's online collection of compensation and pension applications.
“As well as the individual stories they tell, which illuminate the personal circumstances of many ordinary people during and after this turbulent period, the files also give an insight into the events of the time and the personalities of the people involved."
Come along for what promises to be a fascinating and informative meeting. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome; priced £4 per person.
