The pupils of Willowbridge School have had their sensory garden refreshed with thanks to Lisbellaw Veterans Group.

Lisbellaw Veterans Group works with veterans and their families to enhance their well-being, and members recently completed a project at the school.

They refreshed the sensory garden and pond area of the school, working tirelessly across the summer months before presenting the area to the school again on Friday, September 23.

On the morning, Charlie Rice, a pupil in P7, cut the ribbon to officially open the garden.

Mr. Orr said the project in Willowbridge School was proposed by a member of their group, Chris Allen, a parent of a former pupil at the school.

He thanked the local businesses which supported the project with their time and resources, including Johnstone’s Decorating Centre, RJ Mitten & Son’s Quarry, Creighton’s Hardware and Building Supplies, Mighty Oak Tree Care, GM Décor and Edward Allan Carpentry.

Bernadette Cornyn, the acting principal of Willowbridge School, thanked the group for the amount of work they had put into the area, and also thanked all the businesses in the community who had supported the group.

Ms. Cornyn said: “Pupils love the sensory garden and pond area and I hope that the group recognised the joy their work had brought to the school community.”
