Olive Rowe has officially been installed as the new President of Methodist Women in Ireland (MWI) following a special installation service at Darling Street Methodist Church in Enniskillen on Saturday, October 1.
Olive, who is originally from Ballintra, Co. Donegal but currently lives with her husband Douglas on Boa Island, Co. Fermanagh, will hold the all-Ireland post for two years.
During the service, Olive was inducted as President of MWI by the President of the Methodist Church in Ireland, Rev. David Nixon, who is originally from Blacklion.
There was a lovely atmosphere throughout the service, which started off with the hymn 'O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing' written by Charles Wesley.
Then Olive's predecessor the past President of MWI Joan Strong welcomed all those in attendance, of which there was around 250 people.
The service continued with a performance from the MWI choir with soloist Vivian Vance.
Rev. Nixon then officiated Olive's installation, which included prayers. Olive then spoke about her background; how she became a Christian, her life in Ballintra and introduction to the MWI.
A prayer was led by Rev. Jack Moore, Olive's brother and her lifelong friend, Bishop David McClay, who also grew up in Ballintra, gave the address.
The service also included Bible readings and more performances from the MWI choir, concluding with the Benediction.
Those in attendance enjoyed tea, coffee and refreshments, provided by members of MWIs in the district, following the service.
