Over £2,000 has been raised for Fermanagh Women's Aid following a charity cycle hosted by Balcas as part of the company's 60th anniversary celebrations.
A Balcas spokesperson said: "We were delighted that 93 cyclists took part in our ‘Balcas at 60’ event in support of Fermanagh Women’s Aid on Sunday [October 2]. Both 30 and 60 mile routes were on offer and our two-wheeled fundraisers covered 4,320 miles between them, journeying around Upper Lough Erne."
£1,800 was raised in entry fees from the cycle but the company were able to take the total donated to Fermanagh Women's Aid beyond £2,000 thanks to the generosity of volunteer drivers who donated their mileage expenses back to the charity.
"Thanks too for the support from cycle clubs across the county and hinterlands and everyone who helped out to make our first cycle a success, raising much needed funds for Women’s Aid," said the Balcas spokesperson.
Fermanagh Women's Aid provide information, refuge and confidential support for women and children affected by domestic or sexual abuse.
