A new book which celebrates Lough Erne and its traditions is to be launched in Enniskillen tonight, Wednesday, October 19.
‘Lovely Lough Erne and her Islands so Green’ is a lively collection of stories, articles and poems compiled by local historian John B. Cunningham with Séamas Mac Annaidh.
"This has been a voyage of discovery," explained Séamas.
"We have brought the work of past Fermanagh writers to light and we have also given a platform to the present generation."
Among the living authors featured are Bryan Gallagher, Vicky Herbert, Dianne Ascroft, Marion Maxwell, Joe O’Loughlin and Florence Creighton.
The book is 152 pages long and has been published by the Fermanagh Authors’ Association which gratefully acknowledges the support of the Lough Erne Landscape Partnership through funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The book will be officially launched in the Steele Hall at Enniskillen Royal Grammar School tonight at 8pm when there will be readings from the book, poetry, stories and music.
It promises to be a very special occasion. Everyone is welcome and copies of the book will be available to buy on the night. So why not come along and get your copy signed by some of these Fermanagh authors.
