The Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust) recently recieved the generous donation of £1,900 from Paul Ralph following a fundraiser for the Community Stroke Services Team.
Paul, whose daughter Sonia Cassidy is a Paediatrics Doctor in South West Acute Hospital, initially received his primary care from Thames Valley.
As his wife is from Enniskillen, he moved here from Reading and received his secondary care from the Community Stroke Services team. Paul undertook a fitness challenge to raise funds for the Stroke Services Team in recognition of the care he had received.
Paul aimed to travel 70 miles, in seven hours at the age of 70. He achieved 70 miles in five and a half hours, travelling 63 miles on bike and 7 miles on kayak from the Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen to Belleek and back again.
Paul wished to thank the staff for the incredible care he received, particularly Dr Shelley McKeown, Clinical Neuropsychologist; Dr Brian Gallen, Consultant Physician; Ciaran Daly, Physiotherapist and Valerie Kerr, Occupational Therapist in Omagh.
He also thanked the local community for their generous contributions to his fundraising efforts.
