ENNISKILLEN is pulling out all the stops to boost Christmas trade this year.
The shopkeepers have gone on a three-pronged attack to woo customers in the four weeks to Christmas Day.
Mr. Sean O’Hare (pictured right), President of Enniskillen Chamber of Commerce, said that traders in Enniskillen had a common cause in the build-up to Christmas. It begins this weekend with Santa Claus arriving and the Christmas lights switch-on, and a special three-day discount offer in several shops, and continues to the late night shopping in the town centre when there is a free draw for five £100 prizes.
“We want to offer the shopper, whether a local customer or a Southern shopper, the best possible value in these economically hard times.
“There are only four Saturdays left until Christmas – this Saturday and three others – and we’re hoping to start the ball rolling with an afternoon of entertainment this Saturday.”
It starts with the lights switch-on and Santa’s visit and then a special three-day shopping spree organised by a dozen traders to give Southern shoppers and also regular customer better value.
A spokesman for the traders confirmed that the discount rate would be 15 per cent, regardless of the value of the Punt.
“The Punt is expected to be devalued this weekm but that won’t affect our sales promotion.”
