During the month of December, Strule Arts Centre, Omagh is delighted to present the work of Fermanagh artist Sheila Gilroy Collins.
Her solo exhibition, ‘I am here’ opens at 6.30pm today (Thursday, December 1) and runs until Saturday, December 31.
Better known for ripping, reusing and reimagining pieces of magazines and newsprint to create pieces of art, this is a multimedia exhibition, inspired by legends, landscapes and still life.
Sheila explained: “In terms of producing work, I find that there are certain places or images that I am captivated to draw in any media.
“In collage, I look at newspapers and magazines as paint palettes with text as shades of light and dark.
“I like to go through and find words or pieces of text to fit the narrative of the image. Producing collages is a bit like trying to make a jigsaw without having any idea where the pieces are.”
The exhibition will be on display during the month of December from Mondays to Saturdays, 9.30am to 5pm, and admission is free.
