A woman was caught driving at more than twice the speed limit through a Fermanagh village.
On the morning of June 28, at around 8.35am police detected Finola Tracey (57), with an address of Cashel Road, Garrison, travelling at 61mph in a Volkswagen Golf at Main Street, Belcoo.
The speed limit in the village is 30mph, Enniskillen Magistrates Court heard on Monday.
Her solicitor Gary Black, told the court, his client had some personal difficulties at home and was heading to work after Covid-19 but had not left herself sufficient time for the journey.
He said the speed was “inappropriate” and she was “incredibly remorseful”.
Mr. Black added that Tracey’s driving licence was essential for her work, and asked the court to give her maximum credit for her guilty plea.
For excess speed, Tracey was given three penalty points and a £250 fine by District Judge Steven Keown, who took into account her clear record and early guilty plea, but reflected the high speed in the fine.
