To continue to help spread festive cheer, Enniskillen Royal Boat Club has recently launched its annual charity Christmas appeals.
This year, the club has chosen to support four charities with the appeals: St.Vincent de Paul, The Salvation Army, Fermanagh Women’s Aid, and Enniskillen Food Bank.
This is the sixth year that the club has run charity appeals in the lead-up to Christmas.
Similar to previous years, the club is compiling hampers for St. Vincent de Paul, and The Salvation Army has requested donations of toys and gifts for children of all ages.
“We have added in winter coats and fleece blankets this year due to the cost of living crisis, and people’s concern about fuel costs,” said a spokesperson for the club.
This year, for the first time, Enniskillen Royal Boat Club are holding a Christmas Day plunge for club members and their families to raise money for Breast Cancer Now.
The club spokesperson explained why they have chosen to support this particular charity with the event: “One of our mums was diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and will finish her treatment before the end of this month.”
The club will also be having its annual Christmas Puds rowing race on Tuesday, December 27. “[It will be] a time for some festive fun for our current rowers and those who are home for Christmas,” added the club spokesperson.
