Leading builders’ merchants, Haldane Fisher, has launched its toy donation appeal to support local families in need this Christmas.
Following the success of the initiative at Haldane Fisher’s Newry store last Christmas which saw hundreds of donations from both customers and staff, this year the company has extended the appeal with donations now being accepted at its Enniskillen branch.
Haldane Fisher will partner with local charities, Southern Health and Social Care Trust Children’s Disability Team, and Newry Social Services to ensure all presents are gifted to children and young people, who are in need, in the local community.
David Haldane, Managing Director at Haldane Fisher, said: “At Haldane Fisher we recognise the positive impact we can have within the local community and are very proud to once again support the Secret Santa Toy Appeal.
“Christmas should be a magical time for everyone, and unfortunately due to the rising cost of living, more children than ever before will be waking up without a gift under the tree.
“We will therefore be accepting unopened toys in new or excellent condition for all ages of children and young people, in five of our branches, all of which will make a real difference to those who most need help this Christmas.
“I am truly grateful to everyone who donated a toy last Christmas, we were blown away by the generosity of everyone and know that we can expect the same goodwill from customers this year. I would like to extend my thanks to all those who will take part this year.”
Ernie Campbell, who works directly with the charities, explains how one small act of kindness can really help children and young people who need it most this Christmas:
“The continued support from Haldane Fisher to help children and young people at Christmas can mean the difference between a child waking up to a toy at Christmas, or a child waking up to nothing, with times being especially hard this year. "
Gifts for babies, children and young people will be accepted at Haldane Fisher branches in Newry, Ladas Drive, Lisburn, Bangor and Enniskillen until December 17. Both employees and customers can drop off new toys at the trade counters or Plumbmaster counters in the selected branches.
