HITCH-HIKING between Manchester and Enniskillen may not sound like a very uplifting journey, but a local student and two of her friends were able to complete the trip at the weekend in under 24 hours - to raise money for Children in Need.
Nicola Haslett, from Enniskillen, along with two English students, Sean Moss and Veronica Falvey set off from Manchester armed only with a Children in Need poster and three collection boxes. Under rules laid down by the organisers of the event, the three were only allowed to purchase transport by begging. They first tried begging flights but failed before being offered free crossings by Norse Ferries.
After arriving in Enniskillen early on Saturday the students spent the weekend at Nicola’s parents before the return journey again with Norse Ferries.
A friendly lorry driver then promised to take them to Liverpool.
