Devenish’s Peter Carty was the 2022 winner of the O’Neill’s Ulster GAA Lifetime Service Award
In a statement about former Fermanagh Chairman, Carty picking up the award, the Ulster Council said: “This year’s O’Neills Lifetime Service to the GAA Award goes to a man who truly has given a lifetime of service to the Association at club, county, provincial and national levels.
“In 1966 he was elected to his club committee and after 56 years of unbroken service he remains on that committee – he was Chairperson for over 30 of those 56 years.
“As a player he captained his club to Junior Championship success in 1975 and has been a fervent supporter of Scor throughout his life.
“After having served as County Vice-Chairman, in December 2006 he was elected Chairman of the County Committee, the first person from his club to hold that distinguished office.
“He has also served on the GAA’s Central Council and on the Ulster Council, where he is currently a serving member.
“Whatever needs to be done locally or at county level, this man will do it and he is also a generous sponsor of Gaelic games in his native county.”
