Enjoy a great night of live entertainment this Christmas at the Ardhowen Theatre, as just one of many terrific evenings and events coming up at the Enniskillen entertainment hub.
For starters, Declan Nerney – the hugely popular performer from the Irish Country music scene – returns to the Ardhowen tonight, Thursday, December 22, at 8pm.
Declan has been at the forefront of Irish Country music now for several decades, known near and far for his energetic showmanship with the unique ‘Nerney’ Big Band sound.
His show will feature many of his biggest hit songs, including ‘Stop The World’, ‘The Marquee In Drumlish’ and ‘The Three Way Love Affair’.
From music to cinema now, and the new year starts with another season of films curated by Fermanagh Film Club.
The club’s first 2023 presentation, coming up at 8pm on Wednesday, January 4, is ‘Lyra’ (Cert 15).
This emotive, intimate documentary focuses on the life and death of the acclaimed young Northern Irish journalist Lyra McKee, whose murder by the New IRA in April, 2019 made headlines across the world.
Directed by her close friend, Alison Millar, the film seeks answers to her senseless killing through Lyra’s own work and words.
Returning to music, and all seats are already sold for The High Kings on Friday, January 6, but tickets are still available for the rescheduled Paul Kelly & Friends show on Saturday, January 7 at 8pm.
Paul will be joined by special guests John Hogan, Karl Kirkpatrick, Bernie Kelly and Paul McManus, Vincie Carr and Gary Wilson for a concert that promises to be a great night of music and entertainment.
Panto fans are in for a treat with the Ardhowen welcoming back the Lakeland Players with their production of ‘Mother Goose’ – the only pantomime with a Dame in the leading role, but unlike most heroines, Mother Goose is flawed.
This is a moral tale, warning of the consequences of greed and envy, but it’s full of wonderful comedy scenes and all the usual traditional panto slapstick and audience participation.
Performances run from Thursday, January 12 to Saturday, January 21, with tickets selling fast, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Note that this production contains some loud bangs, pyrotechnics and the use of a haze machine.
The Ardhowen Theatre wishes all their customers and visitors a very happy Christmas and looks forward to seeing everyone again in the new year.
Check out the theatre’s new spring programme, with tickets for many events on sale now.
Don’t forget – a theatre gift voucher could make a fantastic Christmas present; they’re available to purchase online or from the box office.
