The story of Ireland's former richest man, Seán Quinn, is going stateside as the book 'Quinn' – written by author and documentary maker Trevor Birney – is set to be launched in New York by his fellow Enniskillen native, actor Adrian Dunbar.
The Fermanagh pair will officially launch the book in the US on February 23 at 7.30pm at Rosie O'Grady's Bar in Manhattan.
Speaking to The Impartial Reporter about the US launch, Trevor said: "The book has been a bestseller in Ireland and has sold out in both the North and South in the run up to Christmas.
“It's taken us all by surprise, but we're delighted with the sales in Ireland!
“Now, we have that opportunity to launch the book in America, and we're delighted that Adrian is launching it."
Trevor explained that he has known Adrian for a long time, as their mothers worked together in St. Joseph's College in Enniskillen.
"I was very lucky to produce a documentary with Adrian about 10 years ago about Brendan Behan for RTÉ, so our paths have crossed in the past, and we've got a lot of mutual friends.
"But I was really taken aback when I approached him and he came back to me so quickly and so enthusiastically, to want to come to New York and launch the book for us.
"Everyone knows that Adrian is a very proud Fermanagh man, and is very proud of his roots, like myself.
"So for the two of us to come together in New York later in the month, it's going to be a very exciting evening," added Trevor.
To attend the launch of 'Quinn' at Rosie O'Grady's Bar, Trevor is advising people to get in touch with Mike Carty at the bar for more information.
"Mike at Rosie O'Grady's Bar has been very much involved. He is Leitrim-born, and has been in America for almost 40 years, but he's never forgotten his roots as well," said Trevor, adding: "He has been encouraging me and the publisher, Merrion Press, to get the book into New York.
"Himself, and a lot of Fermanagh, Cavan and Border people, were watching the documentary series and reading the book, so actually launching it there is a huge moment for us, one that we're very excited about," he told this newspaper.
