This Easter weekend, walkers are set to take part in one of the finest walks in the North West as the organisers of the North Leitrim Glens Hillwalking Festival put the final touches to an exciting series of trails.

This two-day hillwalking festival begins this Easter Saturday (April 8) when walkers will enjoy stunning views over Glenade Lake, Slieve League and Donegal Bay.

Saturday’s long walk will take walkers to Truskmore – the highest mountain bordering Leitrim and Sligo.

The medium walk, for those who wish to go at a slower pace, will take a similar but easier route along the east side of Tievebaun, the third-highest mountain in the Dartry range.

On Sunday (April 9), walkers will have the opportunity to enjoy breath-taking views of the North Leitrim Glens as they head along the Leitrim Way, taking in Tullyskeherny megalithic tomb and Larkfield Ringfort.

The long walk on Saturday leaves Manorhamilton at 10am and the medium walks on Saturday and Sunday leave at 11am.

Registration for the festival is online, with all the details available on Leitrim Hill Walking's site at https://www.leitrimhillwalking.org/.

The festival is being supported by Leitrim County Council, Leitrim Tourism, Call of the Wild and Trail Blazers.
