The Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust) has purchased a circa five acre parcel of land at the former Lisnaskea High School site for the construction of the new Lisnaskea Health and Care Centre.
The new facility will be 4,000m with car parking spaces and will accommodate GP, Trust Community and Older People’s Day Care services, with all patient and client services located on the ground floor.
The purpose-built accommodation will provide improved accessibility, service delivery and increased multi-disciplinary teams working within South East Fermanagh.
It will also address current spatial issues and enable an increased provision of services in Lisnaskea such as Podiatry, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Mental Health Services and Older People’s Services.
In conjunction with this acquisition, the Western Trust continues to progress detailed design work, planning and statutory approvals and preparation for tender.
It is currently anticipated that the construction works will commence in January/February 2024, with the new facility projected to open in early 2026.
The Western Trust’s Chief Executive, Neil Guckian, said: “This is an important milestone in a key development for the staff and community of South East Fermanagh.
“It represents another step towards providing services in a modern setting, designed with the essential input of local staff who deliver care, and focused on meeting the needs of their patients and clients.”
