The Seskinore Forest 5K Run and Walk is back for 2023 on Saturday, May 13.
Preparations are well under way for what promises to be another fantastic day in the beautiful surroundings of Seskinore Forest.
The event, now in its second year, attracted more than 400 entrants in 2022, and is organised by Seskinore Rural Community Group. All are encouraged to enjoy the scenic route on the trails and roads around the forest.
A spokesperson for the race committee said: “This is a community event, and we encourage everyone to come along and take part, whether running, walking or pushing buggies.
“This 5K also gives more competitive runners an opportunity to achieve good times on a fast route.
“We want people to come and see what Seskinore Forest has to offer. Last year was a huge success, and we thank all our local businesses who provide sponsorship and our volunteers who make this such a special occasion.”
Registration is currently open and is available online at www.njuko.net/seskinore_forest_5k_2023. The entry fee for the chip-timed race is £12 for adults, £6 for U-18s, and free for U-12s (minors must be accompanied by an adult).
Online entry will remain open until Thursday, May 11, with the first 400 entrants receiving a Seskinore Forest Snood.
Participants can collect their race packs from 7-8pm on Friday, May 12, and from 9.30-10.30am on the morning of the race. In-person entry will also be available at these times.
The race will begin at 11am, and all participants will receive specially designed wooden finishers’ medals.
Parking is available within the forest; please follow the guidance of the stewards.
Further information is available at Seskinore Rural Community Group’s Facebook page, or by contacting seskinorercg@gmail.com.
All proceeds will go to local community projects in Seskinore Forest and village. Everyone is very welcome, with refreshments being served after the race.
